Moment

by Cherise Wyneken

From Canary Spring 2010

Winds from the Pacific sweep through the Golden Gate Bridge, cross the Bay, and strew white plum blossoms, like falling snow, through Cherise?s backyard in the San Pablo Bay Watershed.

So still
I thought the world had stopped.
One brief moment
between horns and motor cars:
Silence turned
and glanced at me.
