Dead Zones

by S.D. Dillon

From Canary Spring 2025

S.D. lives in a hilly and once-forested area within the abductor where Michigan's palm meets its thumb, and deer ate his tomatoes from the vine last summer.

Anoxic waters foster microbes
That make waters more anoxic.

They start in far depths
And work their way up.

The smaller fish
Asphyxiate first.

The microbes thrive & multiply.
& multiply & thrive.
